Terms entered in searches
When a visitor enters a name, place, or other term in a search tool, that query is sent to the third-party provider operating the search. Edwards County Released Inmates does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider receives and handles the query under its privacy terms.
Emails and contact messages
Information included in an email or contact form is retained as needed to read the message, respond, and maintain the related correspondence. Contact submissions are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law. Visitors should avoid sending sensitive custody identifiers or private details that are not needed for the question.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Routine technical information may be recorded when a page loads. It helps measure traffic, maintain performance, and diagnose faults. The data can include:
- The internet protocol address associated with a request
- Browser name, browser version, and language settings
- Device category and operating system
- Pages opened and the time spent viewing them
- The referring website, when that information is supplied
- The date and time of each request
Cookies and browser controls
Cookies may be used to understand how visitors navigate the site and interact with its features. Most browsers let users reject, delete, or limit cookies through their settings. Blocking cookies may cause certain functions to work differently or not retain a preference.
Reasons Data Is Used
Collected information is used for operating and improving the service. Those purposes include:
- Keeping pages available, stable, and responsive
- Sending a search request to the appropriate partner service
- Understanding which Edwards County resources visitors use
- Detecting errors, misuse, and other technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect a visitor's interests
Privacy Beyond This Domain
Links may lead to Edwards County release records, sheriff or correctional resources, court portals, government databases, and outside search tools. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination's own privacy notice and data practices apply. Edwards County Released Inmates does not control how those separate services collect, retain, or disclose information.
Some advertising partners may use their own tools to recognize activity across more than one website and select interest-based advertising. That tracking occurs on the partner's systems and is governed by the partner's policies and opt-out choices.
When Information May Be Shared
Personal information is not sold. Limited information may be provided to service providers or authorities when needed for the purposes described here:
- Search partners that process a visitor's submitted query
- Analytics providers that measure site use and performance
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure advertisements
- Law enforcement or another government body responding to a valid legal order
This site links to public records maintained under agency rules. Illinois FOIA, 5 ILCS 140, governs requests made to Illinois public bodies, including applicable exemptions and redactions. It does not convert this private site into a government record custodian.
Safeguarding Retained Information
Reasonable, commonly used security practices are applied to information within our control. No website, transmission method, or internet-connected storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. We therefore cannot promise that unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure will never occur.
Visitors Younger Than Eighteen
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent, guardian, or affected minor who believes such information was submitted may contact us and request its deletion.
Privacy Requests and Choices
Subject to applicable law and the nature of the information held, a visitor may ask us to:
- Provide a copy of personal data retained about that visitor
- Correct personal information that is inaccurate
- Delete personal information that can lawfully be erased
- Stop or opt out of certain forms of processing
These requests concern information controlled by Edwards County Released Inmates. A correction to an Edwards Sheriff, White County Jail, court, IDOC, search-provider, or advertising record must be directed to the organization that owns it.
Changes to This Privacy Notice
This notice may be revised as site practices, service providers, or legal obligations change. An updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after publication of a revision is subject to the revised notice.
